The Master List is a three-part publication series that reimagines who we refer to as “masters” in art history. The project spotlights 30 women artists born between 1593 and 1991, representing 13 countries and multiple disciplines, with 43 percent identifying as BIPOC. Developed through ongoing research, iteration, and reflection, the project evolved alongside my growing understanding of how design can shape access to art history.
The publications present artists in a straightforward, celebratory way, prioritizing clarity and organization over visual excess. Designed as an accessible discovery tool for high school students and teachers, each profile is concise and digestible, directly addressing the gender gaps that persist in art education and the canon.
At its core, The Master List reflects my approach as an iterative designer and art history enthusiast who values process as much as outcome, and who believes thoughtful structure and presentation can make a more inclusive art history visible, approachable, and engaging for the next generation.
